This position performs a wide variety of department administrative and management duties and reports to the Water Resources Director and work is evaluated through observation, conferences, and the quality & effectiveness of work completed. An advanced level of tact & discretion is required in handling sensitive and confidential matters. Work requires a broad knowledge of office operations plus an independence and initiative that require little or no supervision.   Necessary key skills & abilities include, but not limited to:   possessing the ability to establish, prioritize and organize work assigned; having the ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone; demonstrating the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the general public; and being able to correctly and creatively use a variety of computer programs and technologies.   Essential duties & responsibilities include the following:  securing information via telephone or personal contact;  answering/handling questions/inquiries from the public, contractors, and City employees; managing payroll, accounting and budgetary departmental functions; reviewing bills for payment; making recommendations on equipment and technology upgrades to the Water Resources Director, providing customer service in the issuance of various Water permits; and depositing cash receipts; and generating correspondence, notes, minutes, reports or other materials correctly.   Serves as back-up for positions within the City’s organization as needed.    Graduation from a community or technical college with a two-year associate degree in business or related field with at least two (2) to four (4) years of actual office management experience that includes public contact; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.    Salary range is $31,149 - $46,723.  Open until filled.  Applications will be reviewed weekly.  EOE
