Customer Service Representative 1 - Public Safety

This position will perform responsible administrative support and fiscal work related to the support of citizens, officers, and other customer services for the Morganton Department of Public Safety.  Position serves as receptionist for department, including interaction with the public, provides customer service, administrative support, and accounts receivable work for department.  The Customer Service Specialist provides information on request concerning problematic matters with citizens and assures that feedback is given to the customer in a timely and professional manner.  Work involves heavy public contact functions and coordination with field and other staff and departments within the City’s organizational structure.  The ability to deal tactfully and with diplomacy in working with the public and customer is required in this position. Work includes contact in person and by telephone and follows established policies and procedures.  PC proficiency especially with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel is desired. Strong, clear, and concise communication skills are compulsory.  High school diploma, as well as experience in general office work is required.  Prefer customer service experience in a public service environment. Must possess a valid NC state driver’s license, and must be able to pass comprehensive background investigation. Chosen candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Division of Criminal Information (DCI) terminal operator certification.

Salary range - $27,564 - $41,346.
