The City of Morganton is seeking applicants for a Customer Service Specialist.  This full-time position performs a variety of tasks related to utility and other revenue payment processing.  Position has constant interaction with the public.  This position processes utility/cable payments, tax payments and other fees while answering telephone calls and servicing customers.  He/she also assists with inquiries about utility account, including taking deposits and completing applications to establish service.  Position requires a high attention to detail, ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy, and ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.  Ideal candidate will have experience handling large sums of money (preferably in utility collection or banking industry), strong computer skills (including proficiency with Microsoft Office product and ability to quickly learn new software), and strong, clear, and concise communication skills.  Position requires ability to work independently while willingness to work as a team. High school diploma as well as experience in general office work is required.  Prefer customer service and/or teller experience.  Hiring salary will be $28,253 ($13.58/ hr.) Open until filled.   EOE
