Electric Line Technician I

Position participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electric power lines.   Prefer experience at the class "C" lineman level. Must be able to use a variety of tools, equipment and materials used in electric line construction. Position operates electric line construction equipment including bucket trucks, line trucks, trenchers, and backhoes. Position climbs utility poles and assists in the installation of pole top equipment.  Will be required to work standby duty and subject to 24-hour call out.  Must be a high school graduate supplemented by technical training in electrical principles and some experience in a skilled trade, preferably electrical; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have or be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds safely. Salary range begins at $37,861.00 ($18.20/hour). City offers Career Development for advancement. Open until filled.
