Responding to emergency fire and medical related situations; participating in fire suppression and rescue; maintaining equipment and facilities; continuing training and instruction. Responds to alarms and assists in the suppression of fires, including rescue, entry, ventilating, salvage work, containment of hazardous materials, traffic control, crowd control, etc.; Performs overhaul work; assists in maintaining fire apparatus and equipment and cleaning fire station grounds; inspects, cleans and maintains fire hose pumps, hydrants, assists with preplanning and inspection activities; conducts smoke alarm inspections and installations. North Carolina Fire Fighter Certification is preferred, but not mandatory. The applicant must possess a high school diploma, or equivalent, be able to obtain a class B driver’s license, meet OSHA requirements, and successfully complete a physical fitness/agility assessment. Upon hire, applicant must successfully complete the field training program. Firefighters will work a 24 hour on/48 hour off schedule. The pay range for this position is $33,504 - $ 50,256.
