Responding to emergency fire, medical, vehicle accident, and related situations; participating in fire suppression, vehicle extraction, and rescue; maintaining equipment and facilities; continuing training and instruction. Responds to alarms and assists in the suppression of fires, including rescue, entry, ventilating, salvage work, containment of hazardous materials, traffic control, crowd control, etc.; Performs overhaul work; assists in maintaining fire apparatus and equipment and cleaning fire station grounds; inspects, cleans and maintains fire hose pumps, hydrants, assists with preplanning and inspection activities; conducts smoke alarm inspections and installations. North Carolina Fire Fighter Certification is required. The applicant must possess a high school diploma, or equivalent, be able to obtain a class B driver’s license, meet OSHA requirements, and successfully complete a physical fitness/agility assessment.  Upon hire, applicant must successfully complete the field-training program. Firefighters will work an 8, 12 or 24-hour shift. Part Time Fire Fighters will be required to work a minimum of one eight-hour shift every two months. Pay range for this position is 13 dollars an hour for a Fire Fighter position and 14 dollars an hour for Driver Operator/Firefighter. Apply by 5:00 pm, Friday, May 26, 2023.
