Position is responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of pumps, motors and other equipment in the wastewater treatment plant and the City’s 16 sewer lift stations. Work requires on-call and callback responsibilities.  Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs parts or equipment due to failure. Participates in the operations of the sewer plant if needed. This position requires the ability to use computer to update maintenance records.  Working around raw sewage is also subject to the final standards of OSHA on blood borne pathogens. Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly.  Graduate from high school with supplemented courses in mechanical or plumbing trades, treatment plant operations, mechanical or collection system maintenance including pump repair desired.  Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.  Starting Salary will be $ 37,861.
