Traffic Sign Technician

This Position handles a wide variety of duties related to signage and traffic control, including:

• Maintaining and installing street signs;
• Fabricating and erects replacement street signs on City maintained streets;
• Installing flexible delineators, bollards and wheel stops;
• Painting and using thermoplastic for striping on City maintained roads and parking lots. 
• Assists with various other tasks in the street department as needed (snow removal, driving trucks, etc.)

Position operates a variety of equipment (striping machine, heat torch, drills, saws,) and hand tools to perform everyday duties.  Work is both indoor & outdoor, including on streets and right of ways. 

Positions should be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. NC driver's license is required.  Class B CDL license and knowledge of work zone safety is preferable, but we will train.    Starting salary is $28,942 and eligibility for a 5% increase after successful completion of a 9-month probationary period.
