Morganton Cultural Arts Commission
We’re really into promoting public art in Morganton, NC.
The Cultural Arts Commission was created in 2021 with the purpose of:
- Promoting the appreciation of the cultural arts by the citizens and residents of Morganton;
- Initiating, sponsoring or conducting, alone or in cooperation with other public or private agencies, public programs to further development and public awareness of, and interest in, the fine and performing arts;
- Developing and proposing programs to enhance and enliven the community through cultural arts, such as implementation of public art in civic spaces.
- Enhancing the physical environment of the City of Morganton with the display of appropriately sited and well-designed public art;
- Advocating for cultural spaces in the city of Morganton;
- Encouraging and actively seeking donations and grants to effectuate the missions and purposes of the Commission;
- Recommending programming for the cultural arts for inclusion in the City's operating budget on an annual basis;
- Collaborating when appropriate with other public bodies or organizations related to the fine or performing arts; and
- Performing such other tasks and carry out such other programs and projects for the enhancement of the cultural arts in the City as the City Council may so request and authorize.
