Burke County Fairgrounds property damaged and vandalized

On February 18, 2022 at 4:04 p.n., Morganton Public Safety Officers responded to the Burke County Fairgrounds in reference to a reported vandalism, damage to property, and breaking and entering. 

The suspect(s) spray painted the front of the livestock barn building.  Multiple buildings were discovered to have been vandalized with spray paint and had been broken into.  It was also discovered that the suspect(s) had tried to start a several fires inside of some of the buildings. The suspect(s) had used multiple fire extinguishers by discharging them inside several different buildings. Damage to property is this case consisted of broken doors, windows, and property along with multiple building being tagged with spray paint. .

Criminal Investigators responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The amount of vandalism and damage to the property is estimated around $150,000.00.
