Driving While Revoked Leads to Trafficking Charge
On July 30th, 2023 at approximately 01:13am, Officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety conducted a vehicle stop on a dark green Jeep Wrangler due to the driver having a revoked drivers license. Officers located Charles Edward Oneil, 52, of Morganton, driving the vehicle. Oneil traveled approximately three quarters of a mile down Bouchelle St. and came to a stop at a residence. As a result, Oneil attempted to evade officers by running around the back of a residence but was apprehended. Oneil was in possession of and had thrown 47.7 grams of Cocaine into a grown up vegetation area at the rear of the residence. Oneil was arrested and charged with the following:
Resisting a Public Officer GS-14-223
Trafficking Cocaine GS90-95(H)3
Maintain Dwelling-Vehicle-place for Drugs GS-90-108(A)(7)
Fail to Heed Lights and Siren GS 20-157(A)
Driving While License Revoked GS 20-28
Oneil received a $50,000 secured bond and a court date of July 31st, 2023.
