Early Morning Fire Destroys Home on East Side

On July 12th, 2023 at approximately 12:05am, Officers and Fire Personnel with the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to a structure fire located at 201 Kirk Street. Upon arrival, Public Safety staff discovered the vacant residence was fully involved with fire. Public Safety was on scene for approximately two hours while they extinguished the fire. 

City of Morganton Electric personnel responded to the scene to remove an active/down power line along Kirk Street. 

This fire is currently under investigation by Morganton Public Safety Investigators. The residence was deemed a complete loss.
