Early Morning Fire Destroys Local Business
On January 31, 2024 at approximately 12:00am, Members of the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to 818 West Union Street in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, units located the building with heavy smoke and fire showing. Due to the size of the structure and fire contents inside, mutual aid requests were made to numerous agencies within Burke County. As of 5:00am, fire crews were still on scene working to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
