Man leads Police on Chase up NC 181

On March 23, 2023, Officers with Morganton department of Public Safety were conducting a chapter 20 checking station at 1150-A North Green St (Discount Beverage) located within the Freedom Plaza.
Officers made contact with a yellow Ford Focus sports car that pulled up to the checking station. The driver, identified as Wyatt Lane Clark, did not have a valid drivers license within his possession due to his drivers license being revoked. Clark was asked to pull in to the PVA of the Discount Beverage to be
issued a North Carolina citation for driving while license revoked. Moments later, Clark began revving his engine and took off. Clark’s vehicle traveled across a grass median, through a ditch and onto NC 181 north where a pursuit was initiated. Officers pursued Clark, but were unsuccessful due to the speed that the sports car was traveling. Speeds were in excess of 125 mph. Clark has since been issued several charges for Felony flee to elude, Driving while license revoked, speeding in excess of 15+ above the posted speed limit and reckless driving wanton to disregard the safety of the public. Clark’s vehicle is also being seized by the State of North Carolina due to the run and your done law.
