Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Felonies and Weapons Charge

On Thursday, November 30, 2023, an Officer with Morganton Department of Public Safety conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation.  A K9 was utilized and a subsequent search yielded 17 grams of Methamphetamine, 1 Oxycodone pill, narcotic paraphernalia and a concealed handgun.   

The rear passenger, Brent Allen Ford, 49, of Valdese was found to be in possession of the above listed items and was placed under arrest and charged with Simple Possession of Schedule 2 Controlled Substance (Oxycodone), Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia, Carrying a Concealed Handgun, and Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver a Schedule 2 Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine).

Ford has a court date of Friday, December 1, 2023 at 9am and was held under a $10,000.00 secured bond at the Burke County Jail.  Ford has previous charges of DWI, driving while license revoked, assault and Breaking and Entering.
