Two Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine

On August 9, 2021 at approximately 11:45pm, Officers on C Platoon with the Morganton Department of Public Safety were patrolling S Sterling Street when they noticed a white Dodge Avenger displaying a fictitious tag. A vehicle stop was conducted at 2302 S Sterling Street. Brittany Nicole Woody, 31, of Morganton was driving the vehicle and in the company of a passenger, Jesse Wayne Douglas, 28, of Lenoir. Drug paraphernalia was located in plain view inside of the vehicle which led to a subsequent search of the vehicle. Altogether, over 39 grams of Methamphetamine, 4 grams of Marijuana, 8 Alprazolam, 1 Oxycodone, a digital scale, and over $1,700 in cash was located and seized. Both Woody and Douglas were taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine (F)
  • Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances (F)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M)
  • Possession of Schedule VI CS (M)
  • Possession of Schedule IV CS (M)
  • Possession of Schedule II CS (M)
  • Driving During Revocation
  • Give, Lend, Borrow Registration Plate
  • Two (2) Outstanding Orders for Arrest

Jesse Wayne Douglas

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine (F)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M)

Both Woody and Douglas each received a $50,000 secured bond each for the related charges during this investigation. Woody received an additional $8,000 secured bond due to Two (2) Orders for Arrest. Both Woody and Douglas have been given first appearances set for August 12, 2021.
