********UPDATED******************* Alcohol compliance check at Morganton Businesses results in charges
Update
The following businesses were listed under the wrong name, Tobacco Barn 1 and 3, and have been corrected below due to change of ownership.
On August 31th and September 1st, 2023, Morganton Department of Public Safety with the assistance of the NC Alcohol Law Enforcement Division conducted an alcohol compliance check at local businesses that sell alcohol. Multiple businesses that sell alcohol were visited in Morganton and the following 10 businesses had employees cited for selling alcohol beverages to those under the age of 21. This a violation of N.C.G.S 18B-302(A), SELL ALCOHOL TO PERSON UNDER 21.

This is a continuing effort by MDPS to reduce the sale of alcoholic beverages to those under the age of 21 due to numerous complaints received from concerned community members and parents.
