Woman charged with Sexual Exploitation of a minor Charges

On December 30, 2022, Investigators with the Morganton Department of Public Safety and NCSBI served a search warrant at 122 Ross St Morganton, NC after a lengthy investigation into potential child pornography crimes.  After further investigation Julia Paige Hyduke age 30 of the residence was charged with N.C.G.S. 14-190.17, Sexual Exploitation of a minor. Hyduke was transported to the Burke County Detention Facility and received a $50,000 secure bond with an initial court appearance of January 3, 2023.

Additional charges may be forthcoming in this case.

Morganton Department of Public Safety is a member of the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (ICAC) and are assisted by the NC SBI when requested.  Investigator assigned to work ICAC attend training sponsored by the NC SBI and work with the NC SBI to further their experience in these types of cases. MDPS Investigators have assisted in several regional investigations to assist the NC SBI and other agencies in ICAC cases throughout 2022.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce offers Internet Safety resources on their website at https://www.icactaskforce.org/internetsafety. They stress that “The Best tool we have to prevent internet crimes against children is education”.

All persons charged with crimes are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
