Water service disruption, citizens asked to conserve water

Water service disruption, citizens asked to conserve water

UPDATE: Water services have been temporarily restored as of 11:30am, but expect water pressure to be low throughout the day until the evening. It will take time for the water pressure to build back up. The City is working to replace the transformer that failed. We will keep you all updated as soon as more information becomes available.

The City of Morganton Water Treatment Plant is experiencing a service disruption due to a failed electrical transformer. Repairs are still in progress but some areas may experience discolored water, low, or no pressure. The city is now in conservation mode, which means we ask that citizens hold off on using water for any recreational activities such as washing cars, using sprinklers, etc. To reduce the impact on the system, please conserve water wherever possible. If you have no water pressure, please contact the treatment plant at 828-438-5276. We will update this post as more information becomes available.
