How to apply for a Local Historic Designation

When completed, the application form provided will initiate consideration of a property for designation as a local historic landmark. The application will enable the City of Morganton Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) to determine whether the property qualifies for designation. The HPC will make its recommendation to the City of Morganton Council. Incomplete applications may be returned to the applicant for revision. Staff will contact applicants after receiving an application to discuss the next steps of the designation process. Please contact staff with any questions at 828-438-5268

Applications for Local Historic Designation must be received at least 30 days prior to the monthly meetings.
