We are looking for an IT professional with a strong blend of interpersonal and technical skills to support our Public Safety Department technology.  This position:

  • Monitors, troubleshoots, analyzes, and modifies various networks and software configurations;
  • Researches and recommends hardware and software solutions &   coordinates implementation of software and upgrades. 
  • Provides end-user support across a variety of technology, including PC’s,  cameras, phones, networks, and mobile data terminals. 
  • Serves as administrator for digital record keeping, digital evidence, and camera footage;
  • Ensures security and stability of technology in the Department.

Primarily a Windows environment, so experience with Window servers and HP switches preferred.   This position is based in the headquarters of Morganton Public Safety and primarily interacts with Public Safety Officers and Staff.

Successful candidate will be team-oriented while being able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills required to effectively, tactfully, and politely communicate with vendors and a wide range of end–users to build, develop, and maintain effective working relationships. Position requires great organizational and planning skills, solid documentation habits, strong attention to detail, and initiative  to complete projects. Post-secondary education in computer science or related field, relate technical certifications, and / or considerable experience in personal computer and network applications and administration is desired. Familiarity with law enforcement environment and Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Security Policies are a plus.   Ability to obtain Division of Criminal Information certification and CJIS clearance is required. Position requires successful completion of an extensive background investigation, including criminal and financial history.

Salary range $48,322 - $72,483, with starting salary dependent on experience.
