Breaking and Entering Suspect found Hiding In Car

On Sunday, March 18, 2024, Morganton Department of Public Safety officers received a 911 call in regards to a Breaking and Entering in progress.  The caller reported her ex-boyfriend was attempting to gain entry to her home with the use of what she believed to be power tools.  Officers arrived on scene and were able to quickly identify the suspect’s vehicle parked in the area.  The suspect attempted to hide in the rear passenger area of the truck was positively identified as Ramiro Marcelo Cruz of Charlotte, 25.  Cruz was detained and further investigation yielded footprints and pry marks on the front door as well as a rear screen removed from a window.

Cruz was arrested and taken before the magistrate and charged with Attempted 1^st Degree Burglary and 2^nd Degree Trespass.  Cruz has a court date of Monday, March 18, 2024 at 9am and is currently held under no bond.
