Man Charged after Second Foot Chase in One Month

Edmunds

On the morning of April 13, 2024, Officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety were conducting business checks when they located a suspicious vehicle in the Morganton Heights Shopping Center near a closed business. While officers were conducting their investigation, a male, later identified as Travis Andrew Edmunds, 26, of Morganton, was seen approaching the vehicle. Edmunds was currently trespassing at this location and began to flee on foot from officers. Edmunds ran through parking areas of several closed businesses before ultimately being apprehended by law enforcement officers off West Fleming Drive.

Edmunds was charged with the following offenses:

  • Second Degree Trespassing
  • Resist, Delay, Obstruct a Public Officer (Two Counts)

Edmunds was arrested previously on March 12, 2024 after fleeing from officers during a traffic stop where he destroyed drug paraphernalia evidence as officers attempted to place him into custody. Officers were able to apprehend Edmunds on this date as well following a foot chase. Edmunds did not receive a bond due to being out on pretrial release from the most recent resist, delay, obstruct charge. Edmunds next court date will be June 7, 2024.
