Prowler Arrested for Resisting Officers and Drug Paraphernalia

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Morganton Department of Public Safety officers received a call about a prowler in the area of Wrighton St in Morganton.  The prowler was described as a black male wearing a white jacket and an orange toboggan, in his late 20’s on a bicycle.  The prowler was stated to be shining a flashlight in windows of homes and vehicles. 

Officers located a black male wearing a white jacket and an orange toboggan riding a bicycle on Vine Arden Rd and made an investigative stop.  The subject was questioned about his activities and about drug paraphernalia in plain view.  The subject then attempted to destroy the evidence and ran from officers.  After a short foot chase, the subject was arrested and identified himself under a false name. 

An officer familiar with the area was able to provide a possible name of Travis Andrew Edmunds, 26, of Morganton.  It was confirmed through MDPS Records Management System of Edmunds identity.  Edmunds was transported to UNC Health Blue Ridge for possible ingestion of narcotics.  Edmunds was released shortly after and served with the following charges:

  • Resist, Delay or Obstruct an Officer (3 Counts)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 Counts)

Edmunds has prior charges of resist, delay or obstruct, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver narcotics, possession of schedule 2 narcotics, possession of schedule 6 narcotics, and several arrests for larcenies.  Edmunds was held under a 48 hour hold until a District Court Judge can set his bond.
