Traffic Stop leads to Narcotics Drug Arrest

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 0114 am, an Officer with Morganton Department of Public Safety conducted a traffic stop on a Red passenger car for failing to stop at a red-light. The driver identified as Robert Alan Foster, 63, of Morganton.  Upon making contact with the occupant, the Officer developed reasonable suspicion due to a subject being on probation and was engaged in criminal activity which resorted a probation search of the vehicle in accordance with NCGS 15A-1343(14). During this search, the Officer located several empty wrappers of Suboxone which were not in a prescription bottle, a meth pipe, a set of digital scales, and a small plastic baggie that contained Methamphetamine. Upon searching Foster's person, the Officer located a prescription bottle that contained a large baggie of Methamphetamine and $1,528.00 in cash. 

 

Foster was taken into custody and transported to the Magistrates Office where he received a $10,000.00 bond. 

Foster was charged with:

  • 19 grams of Methamphetamine (PWIMSD Schedule II),
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and
  • Failing to stop at a steady red-light.

The $1,528.00, meth pipe and set of scales were seized.

Foster has his first court appearance on 04/11/2024 at 0900.
