City to begin fire hydrant flow testing July 31

Fire Hydrant Flow Testing

The City of Morganton will begin flow testing fire hydrants on July 31. The flow testing will last for approximately 9 days.

The flow testing requires a large quantity of water and may disturb sediment that has settled in the City’s water lines. Residents and business owners who notice a discoloration in their water supply should allow an outdoor faucet to run until the water becomes clear again.

Flow testing will occur in the following areas beginning July 31:

  • Day 1: Burkemont Ave. & Asheville St.
  • Day 2: Forest Hill, Greenbriar, & Henredon Rd.
  • Day 3: Burkemont Ave & Ross St. (Lowes & Food Lion)
  • Day 4: Walker Rd., Fletcher St, & College Dr.
  • Day 5: Government Dr. & Enola Rd.
  • Day 6: Old 18, Fiddler Ct, & W. Parker Rd.
  • Day 7: College St., Dye Plant, Wamsutta Mill Rd., & Bouchelle St.
  • Day 8: Fiddlers Run & Enola Rd. (Liberty Middle School & Patton High School)
  • Day 9: S. Sterling, Foothill Dr., & Believers Way
