Main Street program rolls out Golden Ticket initiative for Small Business Saturday

Do you have the golden ticket? Come shop small in Downtown Morganton on Small Business Saturday, November 25 from 8am-5pm, for your chance to find the golden ticket!

There will be Willy Wonk-esqe Golden Ticket scratch offs dispersed to participating downtown businesses. Visit a business and pick up a golden ticket to see if you win. One per customer, per location. No purchase is necessary, but you must be 18 or older to win. It may not be a chocolate bar you’re unwrapping, but if your ticket says "$100" or "$500", you have a winning ticket. If your scratch off says "shop local" you do not win a prize, but you can go to another location and try again. If you have a winning ticket, please present this ticket Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm at the Main Street Office located at 112B West Union to claim your Downtown Bucks prize. Downtown Bucks can be used at select businesses in Downtown Morganton.

Each location will be identified with a large lollipop at the entrance. The trolley will run that day taking participants through town and dropping them off at or near locations.

Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday always held the Saturday after Thanksgiving and was created to help support small downtown businesses and encourage people to shop locally.

Community Events Coordinator Kasey Goodfellow said, “Supporting our downtown businesses is so important. If they are thriving, that means that our community will thrive as well. So when you’re out shopping for the holidays make sure you shop small!”

You can find golden tickets at these participating stores: Bigfoot Climbing Gym, Patterson's Amish Furniture, O'Suzannah's Yarn on Union, Hamilton Williams Gallery, Thistle & Twig, Foothills Gear Garage, Morganton General Store, Paradise Glass, Hillman Beer Morganton, Merrill Mischief, Bloom Again, Craft'd, Sidetracked Brewery, Garden Gate, Paradise Glass, Benjamin and Libbas, Aqua B's, West Union Art Studio, Fonta Flora, Stitching Chicks  and Breathe Yoga & Pilates

Carriage rides will also be available on Small Business Saturday from 5:30-9pm. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Rides may be booked beginning at 5pm on the night of your preferred ride. No advanced bookings will occur. Carolina Carriage Company staff will be on site beginning at 5pm to take your reservation.
